I approach the kite as a vessel for joy, as a symbol of levity: the quiet, sustaining lightness that comes from learning how to hold life gently.

The kite becomes a symbolic and emotional form, suspended between grounding and flight. I use it to think about joy as a condition of balance. The ability to stay rooted in one’s inner life, relationships and desires while still allowing space for movement, openness, and release. Here, levity is the freedom that comes from holding something sacred without gripping it too tightly.

The kites also function as portals not only toward lightness, but toward imagined realities. The works treat the kite as a threshold between what is lived and what is hoped for, a device for calling new emotional and psychic spaces into being.

Works such as River Beneath the River I & II, The Centre Holds, and North Star trace an inner landscape of intuition, stability, and orientation. Drawing from talismanic traditions,  gestures of protection and blessing, I treat objects as carriers of intention. They become reminders of what steadies us, what we summon, and what allows us to rise.
